What's wrong with this bottle?

So my mom sent Maeli a cabbage patch doll for Valentine's Day (It was supposed to be for Christmas, but there were problems getting the one Grandma wanted.) She likes the doll, but she can't get over the bottle...She knows there is supposed to be food in there, but as hard as she tries, nothing happens. Its so frustrating!
